November 2021 Winner: A Winter's Tale

An illustration of a portrait of Shakespeare.

“I’m home, my darling!” William hollered, throwing his coat onto a nearby chair. The door closed with a crash, making Anne jump. “I’ve got it!” William said. He danced over, grabbed Anne’s hand and kissed it.

“Mother Mary, Will, why so loud?” She sighed. “Well, what’ve you got?”

“The name of my new play, of course.”

“And what have you come up with?”

“On my way back from Burbage’s it just hit me: my darling, what do you think of ‘A Winter’s Tale?'"

She considered for a moment and then nodded her head decidedly. “I love it. My dear, it’s perfect.”
